As the babies were trickling into our family, early on family prayers have been instrumental to our daily routine. About 9pm every evening, Oremus (Let us pray) is shouted throughout the house! Within minutes, the little pitter-patter of tiny feet, now the rumbling of much larger feet rush to the living room to lay claim to the perfect spot.
Over the years, this tradition has changed slightly. We read the Saint of the day then verbally relating to our day from an old Lives of the Saints plucked from our home library. After this, the 30+min of “how was your day”, “what’s on the to-do list for tomorrow”, “what’s the meal plans for upcoming weekend” and “what do we need from Instacart!” This 30-40 minute family bonding/organizing routine has been quite instrumental in forming the children and keeping us all on a perfect schedule. If evening prayers/meeting are missed due to household events, things get forgotten!! …from experience. 😅
I look forward every night to family prayers and seeing all my children listen to their father reading and discussing our daily Saint. Now, we have included the grand baby into our evening prayers and he has discovered Paw-Paw will gladly pop him on his secure and loving lap to enjoy the readings.

“3 Thy wife as a fruitful vine, on the sides of thy house. Thy children as olive plants, round about thy table. 4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. 5 May the Lord bless thee out of Sion: and mayest thou see the good things of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
